In the midst of accelerating ecological crisis and the cascading impacts of climate change, what does it mean to conduct Indigenous Studies today?
This talk engages Indigenous feminist scholarship-alongside Black study, crip, and trans interventions-as a critical methodological and political force, foregrounding felt theorization not simply as an analytic but as an activation. Rather than treating negative affect, depression, suicidality, and other so-called "bad feelings,, as merely symptoms of crisis, this talk considers their insurgent potential- now they name, reruse, and agitate against the material conditions that produce harm. Jeffrey Ansloos is an Associate Professor of Indigenous Health and Social Policy and the Canada Research Chair in Indigenous Studies in Health, Suicide Studies, and Environmental Justice at the University of Toronto, OISE.
